Nobody has more moving art than Baltimore.
Any exhibit can move you. But at the American Visionary Art Museum, many exhibits move themselves. There’s Fifi, the pedal-powered poodle, a three-story tall whirligig and a school bus decked out entirely in mosaic. The eclectic museum is full of one-of-a-kind artwork by self-taught visionaries. Or come visit Baltimore’s more stationary masterpieces at The Walters Art Museum, the Contemporary Museum, and the Baltimore Museum of Art, where you will find the world’s largest collection of works by Matisse. Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Happiness at AVAM
The quest for human rights and the search for personal fulfillment, as
proposed in the 1776 American Declaration of Independence, provide the
starting point for this upcoming international exhibition curated by
Roger Manley. Works by the last surviving descendant of the Tsars of
Russia, Iroquois Indians, French Revolutionaries, illegal immigrants,
Algerian War veterans, Guantánamo Bay detainees, Holocaust survivors,
incarcerated prisoners, African-American civil rights activists and
Iraqi doctors are among the 50 visionary artists to be featured. Click here to learn more.
