Maxwell Anderson’s riveting play rips the cover off an historic scandal. Anne of the Thousand Days chronicles King Henry VIII’s pursuit of the bewitching young Anne Boleyn. The affair betrays his Queen and rends his country. Written in 1948, the play is frank, lyrical, and boldly fascinated with Anne’s character and point of view. Our Anne is Lizzi Albert, a CSC Associate Artistic Director and Resident Acting Company member who recently appeared with us in Wild Oats, The Importance of Being Earnest, and Uncle Vanya. Ron Heneghan, a Resident Acting Company member and our Director of Community Engagement, who most recently appeared in Much Ado About Nothing, will play the King. (Photo by Teresa Castracane.) Our production will also feature our first all-women production design team. On October 29, at 6:30pm, join us for a free pre-show panel discussion featuring women in the theatre technical and design trades; audiences and students are welcome. On Nov. 5, at 6:30 pm, join Prof. Amy M. Froide here for a free community conversation titled Anne Boleyn: Seductive Temptress or Religious and Political Changemaker?
