Science can happen in a lab, science can happen in space and science can happen in your own backyard! Come to the Maryland Science Center’s 11th annual Backyard Science Days for a day of animal encounters and hands-on activities. Build a custom nature racer, meet live backyard animals native to Maryland, start seedlings, and much more. Explore all the science that lives right outside your back door! Plus, step into the mysterious world of bats at Rob Mies’ famed Bat Encounters show. Visitors will come face-to-face with a Big Brown bat from North America, fruit bats from Africa and Asia and the world’s largest bat, a Flying Fox Bat from Malaysia with a 6-foot wingspan. Shows will be on our Atrium stage at 1:00pm and 3:00pm both days. All activities are free with paid admission and completely free for members.
