This course is an introduction to the fundamentals of jewelry and small metals design and fabrication and is open to students of all levels. A series of projects will guide students as they build their skill set and transform their ideas into finished pieces. Through demonstrations and hands-on experience, participants learn metalworking techniques including sawing, soldering, polishing, riveting, surface embellishment, forming and hollow fabrication. Slideshows of historical and contemporary jewelry will serve to inform and inspire students’ work.
