April 02, 2016

The Maryland Humanities Council offers a guided walking tour through Baltimore's historic Mount Vernon neighborhood, taking you through majestic cultural institutions, past elegant mansions, and into the minds of Baltimore’s literary luminaries like Edgar Allan Poe, Gertrude Stein, H.L. Mencken, and even Tupac Shukar. Learn how a neighborhood of scholars, struggling artists and authors, journalists, philanthropists, and social reformers offered rich opportunities to discuss and debate ideas and open new literary avenues. Participants will meet their guide in front of the Enoch Pratt Free Library at 400 Cathedral Street in Baltimore City, and will receive a free 10% off coupon from The Owl Bar at the Belvedere Hotel upon completion of the tour.
