Benedick is just home from WWI, and not ready to settle down. Beatrice welcomes him home with insults. Their chemistry is legendary, but they are caught up in trading barbs and denying their attraction. Chesapeake Shakespeare Company captures the glamour and spirit of the Edwardian period in its season-opening production of William Shakespeare's beloved romantic comedy, Much Ado About Nothing. Familiar to fans of Downton Abbey and Titantic, the costumes reflect London in 1917-1920, and the action takes place on a magnificent set evoking an English manor with a fabulous ballroom. Featured music includes a uniquely American import to Europe -ragtime dancing, and early jazz and blues introduced by military bands. Ron Heneghan is Benedick, Blythe Coons is Beatrice. Performances September 18 to October 11, 2015, performances at 8pm Thurs.-Sat., and matinees at 2pm Sat-Sun.
