Time Travel Thursday, November 5, 2015 – 8 pm (M) Sunday, November 8, 2015 – 3 pm (S) Marin Alsop, conductor Scott Simon, narrator Jonathan Carney, violin BSO Soloists VIVALDI: Concerto for Four Violins and Cello VIVALDI: Concerto for Two Trumpets VIVALDI: “Spring” from The Four Seasons VIVALDI: “Summer” from The Four Seasons PHILIP GLASS: Icarus at the Edge of Time Separated by four centuries, Philip Glass’s upbeat minimalist style is a recognizable descendant of The Four Seasons. Vivaldi’s beloved, vivid depiction of the seasons contrasts with the collision of real science and science fiction in Brian Greene’s novella, Icarus at the Edge of Time. Glass’ intoxicating score accompanies video images of a young boy’s time-traveling journey towards a black hole.
