Inspired by specific maps from The Walters Art Museum's Maps: Finding Our Place in the World exhibit, Art on Purpose held artistic map-making workshops in fall 2007 with youth and adults from 23 different Baltimore communities. The resulting maps, varied in style and content, are exhibited in a series of eight different installations at The Walters Art Museum. Each installation brings thematically related maps together and features events to celebrate the maps and explore issues they raise.
Maps on Purpose will be on view at The Walters Art Museum concurrently with Maps: Finding Our Place in the World and is part of the Baltimore Festival of Maps.
All Maps on Purpose exhibits and events are free and open to the public. Click here for a full list of participating organizations and events.
