Student Tour Opportunities
Students Ahoy!
All hands on deck! Situated at the top of the Chesapeake Bay, Baltimore is first and foremost a maritime city with nautical roots, awash in opportunities to get your group out on the water. Whether you Ride the Ducks in a WWII-era amphibious vehicle, search for treasure aboard the Urban Pirates beaut of a pirate ship, dine on the high seas on a Spirit Cruise or hop aboard a chartered sailboat to explore the Patapsco River and adjacent Chesapeake Bay, Baltimore offers your group a multitude of choices when it comes to seafaring experiences. Check out www. baltimore.org for a complete listing of nautical learning opportunities.
Master Classes and the Performing Arts
Give student performers an educational experience they will never forget with the opportunity to enjoy a hands-on session with world-class musicians followed by a performance by the worldrenowned, Grammy Awardwinning Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Highly personalized one-on-one attention makes this a truly inspiring opportunity for young performers. Student musicians at 5th grade level and above interested in a behind-the-scenes look at the personalities, timing and preparation that go into a live symphony concert may also take part in an Open Dress Rehearsal with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra followed by a Q&A session with the musicians, conductor or guest soloists. Let the staff and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra assist you in arranging these inspiring learning experiences for your student musician group.
Performance Opportunities
Give student musician groups visiting Baltimore the opportunity to showcase all they have learned by scheduling a performance in the heart of the Inner Harbor. The Harborplace Ampitheater and the Gallery at Harborplace are ideal venues for showcasing your group’s performance skills and are available to groups visiting Baltimore. Love a parade? Hit the street and let your group wow the crowds at any of several annual Baltimore City parades commemorating Marting Luther King Jr.’s Birthday Celebration, Preakness Festival, Columbus Day, St. Patrick’s Day or Thanksgiving. Let our staff help you coordinate your Baltimore debut with the appropriate city agencies.
