Maps: Finding Our Place in the World The Walters Art Museum Organized by The Field Museum and the Newberry Library, Chicago, this special exhibition will be the most ambitious American exhibition devoted to maps since the great show mounted in Baltimore more than 50 years ago. Visitors will come face-to-face with some of the world's greatest cartographic treasures, not only maps made by great cartographers of the Middle Ages and the age of exploration, but also seldom-seen and exciting artifacts from around the world that will broaden visitors' knowledge of the almost universal human activity of map-making. March 16 - June 8, 2008 Baltimore celebrates all things mapping with a citywide festival during the run of The Walters Art Museum exhibition Maps: Finding Our Place in the World. Beginning on March 16, more than 20 area arts and cultural organizations will present activities and exhibitions exploring the rich history and contemporary interpretations of maps and the mapping process, while offering visitors a unique invitation to discover the diverse neighborhoods and institutions that make Baltimore such an amazing place to visit. March 16 - June 8, 2008 Looking through the Lens: Photography 1900-1960 Baltimore Museum of Art Approximately 150 vintage prints by some of the world's best-known 20th century photographers are featured in this exhibition of iconic images by European and American artists such as Man Ray, Alfred Stieglitz, Edward Weston, Paul Strand, Dorothea Lange, and Gordon Parks. Drawn from the BMA's outstanding collection, these rarely shown photographs were produced during a pivotal period in the history of the medium—when photography became fully recognized as an art form. The AST Dew Tour: Panasonic Open Camden Yards Sports Complex It's Back! Returning for a second year, the AST Dew Tour kicks off the summer tour in Baltimore for the Panasonic Open, June 20-22, at the Camden Yards Sports Complex. Enjoy four jam-packed days featuring competitions in skateboarding (vert and park), BMX (vert, park, and dirt) and Freestyle Motocross. Over 150 of the best action sports athletes in the world will be in Baltimore to compete in the competition, including Ryan Sheckler, star of MTV's Life of Ryan, Baltimore's Hometown Hero,Bucky Lasek, Dave Mirra and Nate Adams.

Pimlico Race Course The Virgin Mobile Festival returns to Baltimore for a third year of great music at Pimlico Race Course on August 9 and 10. Headlining this year's show are The Foo Fighters, Kanye West, Nine Inch Nails, Jack Johnson and Stone Temple Pilots. A complete lineup will be announced soon, so continue to check back. Free Daily Guided Walking Tours on Heritage Walk and Mount Vernon Cultural Walk Tours are led by trained and uniformed Urban Park Rangers weekends in April and daily from May 1 - November 2. Tours start at the Inner Harbor Visitor's Center. Heritage Walk is offered at 10:00 AM. Mount Vernon Cultural Walk is offered at 12 noon.
