The People Have Spoken!
On November 6, 2012, the citizens of Maryland voted to enact the Civil Marriage Protection Act which legalized same sex marriage. Starting on January 1, 2013, same sex couples will be granted the right to marry in Maryland. Maryland is one of the first states to allow gay marriage through a voter referendum, demonstrating the welcoming nature of the “Free State.”
