Late Night Dining

Baltimore’s dining scene is ever evolving and growing. And, there is now a demand for more places to eat beyond the usual dinner hours. Here’s a list of some of the city’s best places to eat late into the night.

The Brewer’s Art

The award-winning beers at the Brewer’s Art in Mt. Vernon draw fans from all over, and the food definitely makes them want to stay. Mainstay house beers like Resurrection Ale and Beazly (formerly known as Ozzy before they received a cease and desist request from Ozzy Osbourne) pair well with bar menu items like the Roseda Farms cheeseburger, baked mac and cheese and their much-loved rosemary fries. The main bar is one of the most beautiful rooms in the city, and the downstairs bar is dark and mysterious.

Bookmakers Cocktail Club

Federal Hill’s Bookmakers Cocktail Club features an extensive list of craft cocktails including both creative house creations and classics using house-made ingredients like bitters and hand-squeezed juices. Little known fact: Bookmaker’s is the only place in the world authorized to have Chartreuse Episcopal (green-yellow blend) on draft. Late-night bites include cheeseburger deviled eggs, beef tartare, tempura frog legs, fried cookie dough and more.

Forno Restaurant & Wine Bar

Located on Eutaw Street, near the Hippodrome Theatre and the Royal Farms Arena, Forno offers a late-night menu of salads, brick oven pizzas and desserts. Pizza options range from a classic Margherita with fresh mozzarella, crushed tomatoes and basil to the Carne with tomato, bacon, tasso ham, meatballs and asiago. Creative cocktails and craft beers are a great reason to stop by late into the night.

Guy Fieri Kitchen + Bar

The Food Network celebrity chef’s Guy Fieri Kitchen + Bar features casual favorites like burgers, wings and dishes to share at lunch, dinner and late night. Guy’s also offers a California influenced wine list, signature cocktails, nitrogen frozen shots and craft beers. Popular items include the Mac-n-Cheese Burger, B-More Fries and Rojo Onion Rings.

Heavy Seas Alehouse

This popular casual dining spot is – of course – known for its craft beer selection. They also serve up some of Baltimore’s best burgers, freshly shucked oysters, salads and more. A particularly popular item is the Chicory Salad topped with a poached egg, warm bacon, whole grain mustard and blue cheese. They pour several seasonal in-house beers and often have special firkins (smaller barrels), which makes this a beer geek’s paradise.

Jack's Bistro

This Canton restaurant is one that creates food well outside the box. The menu at Jack’s Bistro changes often and chef/owner Ted Stelzenmuller quite literally travels the world for kitchen inspiration. Jack’s is known for sous vide cooking and dishes like mac and cheese with chocolate and fried s’mores. Favorite cocktails include the Royal Whiskey Sour made with a whole egg; the “Oh Sherry,” which is made with tequila, rosemary, sherry and house-made ginger beer; and the Natty Boh with "the works" – Old Bay rim, hot sauce, citrus and jumbo lump crab.

Johnny Sánchez

Johnny Sánchez at Horseshoe Casino is co-owned by James Beard Award–winning chefs John Besh and Aarón Sánchez and has a sister property in Besh’s home city, New Orleans. This spirited taqueria takes a contemporary approach to authentic Mexican cuisine; and signature dishes include pork belly carnitas tacos, squash blossom quesadillas and lamb enchiladas. The beverage list offers an extensive tequila and mezcal menu, with over 45 varieties of the traditional Mexican spirits in addition to bourbons; beers; wines; and handcrafted margaritas, sangria and specialty cocktails.

Loch Bar

Overlooking Baltimore’s Inner Harbor at the Four Seasons Hotel, Loch Bar is a classic Maryland seafood house featuring one of the region’s largest raw bars and an expansive whiskey menu. A late-night dining staple in the city, Mt. Vernon Stable & Saloon has long been known for their award-winning baby back ribs, steaks, burgers and great bar food like steamed shrimp, ravioli and wings. Comfortable surroundings and friendly people make this a hit with locals and visitors alike.

Papi’s

Nestled in a Fell’s Point rowhouse, Papi’s offers up casual Mexican fare, margaritas, cerveza and more. They feature daily food and drink specials and happy hour (4:00-7:00 p.m.); and when the weather is nice, the back garden area is a real treat. Papi’s favorites include build-your-own street tacos, queso fundido, tortas, tableside guacamole and more.

Pen & Quill

This new Station North favorite features dishes like soft pretzels with Porter cheddar sauce; steam buns with vegetable bahn mi, fried oysters with tartar sauces, pork belly and beef tongue; and a burger made with locally raised Roseda beef, herb aioli, bread and butter pickles, and cheddar. Pen & Quill also offers seasonal craft cocktails and sought-after craft brews like Bell’s, Ommegang and 21st Amendment, plus local beers, too. They have a thoughtfully chosen wine list as well.

Sabatino’s Italian Restaurant

Sabatino’s Italian Restaurant in Little Italy has been serving up Central and Southern Italian cuisine for over 30 years. They are known for dishes like Shrimp Renato – jumbo shrimp butterflied and broiled in a light wine sauce with a hint of brandy, topped with melted mozzarella cheese and prosciutto – and the Bookmaker Salad with their much-loved salad dressing.
