Chad Chappell Joins the Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association as Director of National Accounts


(BALTIMORE, MD) - The Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association (BACVA) announced today that Chad Chappell has been named as the organization's new Director of National Accounts.

Chappell is a Certified Meeting Professional who brings more than 17 years of experience in the hospitality industry. As director of national accounts, he is responsible for generating new citywide convention business focusing on groups that will utilize 3,000 rooms on peak and greater. Chappell will also be responsible for booking new business from the union industry market.

"One of my key strategies to increase group business in Baltimore was to increase the size and experience level of the BACVA Sales Team and Chad Chappell brings more than 17 years of experience in the national association and corporate meetings market," says Tom Noonan, BACVA president and CEO. "Having worked together for nearly a decade selling Dallas, I know that he is an aggressive salesperson with a proven track record in destination sales."

Before joining BACVA, Chappell was most recently a global account director at Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Inc. in the Washington D.C. office. His prior experience also includes regional director of sales for the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau and several sales positions with Hyatt Hotels.

Chappell was named the Meeting Professionals International (MPI) Marion N. Kershner Memorial Chapter Leader in 2005 and the MPI Tomorrow's Leader in 2000. He is also past president of MPI's Potomac Chapter. In addition to his commitment to MPI, Chad is an active member of American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), International Association for Exhibition Management (IAEM) and Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA). He is a graduate of Towson University.
