People are Talking About Baltimore

SPIE moved one of its larger events from Orlando, FL to Baltimore in 2012. Demographics indicated that this was the right move for the event but there is always reason to be nervous when moving a large established event to a new location. Visit Baltimore played a key role in every step of the process from helping us secure viable dates and space, working with the hotel community to support the dates, and then in helping us with site investigations, providing marketing information, and giving us contact information for key local support such as the Economic Development office (TED). Further, Visit Baltimore’s Housing bureau provided excellent service for the housing process and helped with advice and recommendations regarding our block throughout the process. Onsite, Visit Baltimore staff checked in with us frequently and extended a warm welcome to our staff and attendees for the week. Our event had a successful first year in Baltimore and we thank Visit Baltimore for all they contributed throughout the process to further that success!

Visit Baltimore and their travel partners were great hosts during the 2012 African American Travel Conference (AATC), April 18-20. Our delegates thoroughly enjoyed themselves in Baltimore and raved about the hospitality they received throughout the city. Visit Baltimore made the extra effort to make the 2012 AATC a Conference to remember for all delegates. The wonderful Convention Center, city sightseeing tours and evening events at the Reginald F. Lewis and B & O Railroad museums will be talked about by our members for some time.

“2011 marked the first time in history that the United States Conference of Mayors chose Baltimore City as the site of its annual meeting. Such a great honor demanded that we rise to the challenge, and show Mayors from cities around the country what Baltimore has to offer. Without the contacts, connections, and knowledge of Visit Baltimore, our esteemed guests would not have been able to see all of the sights they saw, visit all of the places they visited, and learn as much as they did about what makes our City such a vibrant, historic and unique place. Visit Baltimore’s staff understands not only what makes Baltimore so special, but exactly how to make visitors understand that, too.”

“AABB enjoys having our annual meeting in the City of Baltimore so much that we held two meetings there within 7 years. The AABB Annual Meeting & CTTXPO “fits” very well in the convention center. AABB staff members find the convention center and bureau staff knowledgeable, helpful, and easy to work with. AABB attendees find the city easy to get to from anywhere in and outside of the United States. The city offers a great mix of hotel rooms in the vicinity of the convention center with price points for everyone’s needs. The attractions help AABB market the meeting to attendees. In both the 2004 and 2010 surveys, attendees indicated that Baltimore is a great city for our meeting and they return to Baltimore for a future annual meeting.”

“Baltimore has been an outstanding host city for Neocon East. The show has grown tremendously since it was launched in Baltimore in 2002, and is regarded today as the premier exposition in the mid-Atlantic region for the commercial furnishings industry. The partnership our company has with Visit Baltimore and the Baltimore Convention Center is essential to our success. The customer service and generosity of the hospitality community is second to none, and we look forward to our visit to Baltimore each year.”

“Baltimore was an excellent destination for our 2011 PCMA Education Conference. The Baltimore Convention Center was terrific for our program and having everything within walking distance for our attendees was a huge plus. The staff and service at Visit Baltimore were amazing and one of the best I’ve worked with. Thank you, Baltimore, for such a terrific experience!”

“ANCC National Magnet Conference® recently held its most successful meeting to date in Baltimore for 7800 attendees and exhibitors. Baltimore really is an ideal convention package: walkable, affordable, and easily accessible by air, train or car; wonderful history and culture; a diverse and multi-cultural population; plenty of quality hotels, restaurants, shopping, and entertainment; great convention center space; and many special event venues. If you haven’t been there in a while or have never been, you should go – this city has a lot to offer.”
