Maryland Fleet Week kicked off in Baltimore on Monday and continues through October 17. Baltimore is one of seven cities selected to host a Navy Fleet Week to honor the rich naval traditions of the Chesapeake Bay and the contributions of Marylanders to the defense and prosperity of the nation.
Dozens of gray hulls, vessels and schooners from the U.S. and international navies will dock at the Inner Harbor, Fell's Point, Canton and Locust Point, bringing thousands of sailors to the region and giving visitors the chance to tour the ships. There will also be air shows by the famed Blue Angels; the U.S. Navy's newest vessel, the USS Zumwalt will be commissioned; and a family-friendly festival will be around the Inner Harbor with food, music and more.
All this activity will bring an increased number of visitors and vehicles in the downtown area. We recommend you take public transportation or walk whenever possible to enjoy as much of Fleet Week as you can. Remember, use your feet to see the fleet! For more information, visit www.mdfleetweek.com.
