Baltimore Sports Spectacular

DAY ONE

Baltimore is definitely a sports town — people here bleed purple and white, especially since the Baltimore Ravens just became the 2003 AFC North Champions! The state-of-the-art M&T Bank Stadium is home to the 2000 Super Bowl Champions. Stop by the stadium in the summer to see the Baltimore Bayhawks, the city's professional outdoor lacrosse team. Lacrosse, America's oldest sport, is a Maryland tradition! Learn more about its 250-year-old history at the Lacrosse Museum and National Hall of Fame, a short drive from downtown Baltimore.

Visit Oriole Park at Camden Yards, home of Major League Baseball's Baltimore Orioles. Although old-fashioned in style, the ballpark is one of the most modern and the most beautiful in the country. Complete with lovely promenades behind the outfield, you can enjoy team and memorabilia shops or sample Baltimore's best barbeque and crab cakes. Or take a behind-the-scenes tour of the ballpark, which are offered year round.

Baltimore celebrates a grand slam of new visitor adventures, beginning with Sports Legends at Camden Yards. The museum features exhibits for Babe Ruth, Johnny Unitas, the Baltimore Orioles and Colts, the Maryland Terrapins, and Baltimore’s Negro Leagues, including memorabilia and interactive fun for kids and adults alike, all set within a Civil War era train station. The Babe Ruth Museum and Birthplace is nearby in its original historic condition and open for public tours.

DAY TWO

Whether you prefer indoor or outdoor sports, Baltimore really scores! If you enjoy the links, grab your clubs and head to one of five challenging golf courses offered through the Baltimore County Revenue Authority.

No matter what season, the 1st Mariner Arena offers many other exciting choices for a sports enthusiast, from The Baltimore Blast's indoor soccer and professional wrestling to figure skating!

Wind down your day of recreation with a visit to the Power Plant, home of the country's first ESPN Zone. Whether you are a sports fan or not, you'll love the interactive games and great food while being entertained by a myriad of sports on large screen TVs.

DAY THREE

Enjoy another one of Maryland's homegrown sports, Thoroughbred racing. Visit Pimlico Race Course, home of the Preakness Stakes, the middle jewel of the Triple Crown, or, Laurel Park, the site of the Maryland Million. At both tracks you can be part of the action by betting on live races or on simulcast races from around the country.

If you want to take another swing at golf, try Greystone Golf Course, Baltimore's premier and most challenging course, located just 30 miles from downtown. Or, venture out to Bulle Rock Golf Course, located in Havre de Grace. This Pete Dye designed course received America's Best New Upscale Public Golf Course award from Golf Digest. Still not done with your golf game? Try Beechtree Golf Club, River Downs, Woodlands, Wakefield Valley Golf, Heritage Hills Golf Resort or Cross Creek Golf Club, all located just outside Baltimore!
