As an educator, drummer and band leader, Dr. Phill Butts has been an integral part of the music education & Jazz communities for over 40 years, helping shape the lives of many notable students including comic Wanda Sykes, drummer Marty Knepp, and renowned saxophonist Bobby Shumard. He’s received countless awards from NAACP, Anne Arundel County Superintendent, contests and music festivals, and played at The Kennedy Center, The Lincoln Center, national and state music festivals.
