Echoes of Motown

From the streets of Detroit to the stages of the world, Motown became more than music—it became a movement. Echoes of Motown celebrates the sound that dared to speak truth through melody, harmony, and soul. This electrifying tribute reimagines the songs that carried a generation through protest and pride, joy and justice. At Morgan State University, our Musical Theatre program stands uniquely committed to honoring the artists who shaped our culture while using their legacy to confront the pressing issues of America today—issues that still affect our people. As playwright and director, Dr. Tyrone Stanley has curated a lineup of Motown greats, fusing timeless hits with a call to awareness, unity, and action through singing, poetry, spoken word, and dance. If you love the sounds of The Four Tops, The Temptations, Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and so many more—come be part of the celebration and let the music move you once again.
