Shadows of the Soul: A Self-Love Workshop
Looking for a Valentine’s Day treat that nourishes your soul? Join transdisciplinary artist HOPE McCorkle for a workshop inspired by her recent solo exhibition dancing with my shadows: a journey to self-discovery at the Creative Alliance (Baltimore, MD). Show yourself some love by expressing your essence through reflective journaling and collage, creating a self-portrait that represents your most radiant parts. This iteration of the Shadows of the Soul workshop series focuses on honoring the love within, with writing prompts emphasizing self-love, gratitude, and self-compassion!
Shadow work involves exploring and integrating the hidden, unconscious aspects of one’s personality. Rooted in Jungian psychology, it delves into suppressed emotions and unresolved issues, fostering self-awareness, self-love, and personal growth. By addressing and embracing the shadow, individuals strive for wholeness, acceptance, and balance.
Attendees will learn more about shadow work and its role in self-love, write a love letter to themselves, and create collage self-portraits highlighting their attributes, all materials provided and no experience necessary. This workshop is best suited for ages 18+, feel free to bring photos or any materials you feel inspired to incorporate. Delightful refreshments will be offered, catering to a romantic evening with yourself! Take home your self-portrait and a few writing prompts to support and encourage your journey to self-discovery. Take some time to love on yourself today and always!
