Join us at the "retro-modern" Piedmont Learning Center, a not-for-profit outdoor learning center and working green space in Gwynn Oak Maryland, only a few yards from the edge of northwest Baltimore City, for an "equinoctial" evening of recess and respite. The Piedmont Learning Center is an urban dweller's delight and getaway not too faraway. As always, you can attend a Mixolo event with or without a plus-one. If you come solo, you're going to find your plus-some. So, get out. Get environmental. We're celebrating Fall's equinox, the moment the sun crosses the celestial equator – the imaginary line in the sky above the Earth's equator – from north to south. Well, maybe not THE moment, but we'll celebrate fall's arrival with a cider toast (spiked-optional) and take in the the expansive grounds of this hidden gem right outside of historic Dickeysville and flanked by the beautiful 64 acre Gwynn Oak Park. The sun sets at 7:02 PM that evening. Perfect.
You'll no doubt feel nostalgic for the freedom the outdoors represented for you as a child playing in the park, going away to a relative's country home, sleep away camp or 4H, if you're of a certain age. Of course, age is of no consequence. There is no point in one's life where "recess" is off-limits. Like the tune of this freedom so far? Good. You also get to choose your own adventure or zen, however you see it. First we'll toast the arrival of autumn, have a seasonal snack and meet our ex-strangers, new connections; then you can choose one of four activities:
