SPEAK FROM THE SOUL!

Dance Baltimore Offers Five Weeks of FREE Adult Dance Classes

For the thirteenth year, Dance Baltimore, a non profit arts service organization, shares the joy of dance with the broad community of metropolitan Baltimore at its annual Community Dance Workshop. The workshop offers five weeks of FREE adult classes in various dance styles--Sundays, April 23, 30 and May 7, 21 and 28 (no classes on Mother's Day) --with award winning choreographers from the region. All classes are held at the Eubie Blake Cultural Center, 847 North Howard Street with a final culminating concert scheduled for Sunday, June 11, 2017, 5pm at the Murphy Fine Arts Center, Turpin Lamb Theatre, on the campus of Morgan State University.

Speak From the Soul! is five weeks of FREE dance classes offered to teens and adults interested in dance, with or without previous dance experience. Each session includes a warm up session followed by two hour rehearsals learning dance technique and choreography. This year, award winning area choreographers-Amanda Fair (modern), Alice Howe (modern), Renee Pitts (Heeled) and Jihan Von Hendricks (African)--will create new works for an estimated 75 men, women and teens to present in its culminating concert. Students in the workshop include students new to dance, with past dance experience and local professional dancers. Students not interested in performing in the final concert are welcome to attend just the warm up sessions.

Men, women and teens, ages 18 and older are welcome to register (advance or onsite) for the Community Dance Workshop. There is a $5.00 registration fee for all participants due at the first session. Dance Baltimore is a dance service organization created to enhance the role of dance in the Baltimore metropolitan area. Visit the Dance Baltimore website and Facebook page for information on upcoming dance events and activities at www.dancebaltimore.org.
