Eating, then laughing. Better in that order. Joe Squared restaurant and bar is serving both up for our Mixolo solos. Join our “table of ones” for pizza (or risotto) for a casual evening of gut pleasing fare, laughs, and maybe a few gaffs. This comedy line-up is comprised of local and regional comics, some accomplished, some still not quite ready to ditch their day jobs. Joe Squared’s coal-fired pizzas are charred in a 900-degree anthracite burning oven. Their famous sourdough crust is made with 200-year-old starter, organic Caputo flour, sea salt, water, and extra virgin olive oil. For the gluten-free and/or vegan, their risottos and salads are delectable options. Join us in the cool dining room of this Baltimore institution, one that has survived downturns, upturns and topsy-turvy situations, but has remained loyal to the constantly evolving Station North Arts District also anchored by Johns Hopkins University, Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), Maryland Film Festival’s Parkway Theater, the Impact Hub, a social enterprise incubator, and the recent redux of the also-famous Motor House on North Ave. After dinner, we’ll gather in the performance space for some comic relief in the downstairs performance space, appropriately named Downsquares, for some outstanding regional comedians. With a nice long weekend ahead, add this to your staycation. No plus-one required.
