Lexington Market will mark Black History Month with a schedule of free events for children, families and adults of all ages and interests. Highlights include a Saturday afternoon Live Music Concert Series, a Saturday morning Children’s Hour Series, and African American Authors and Artisan Fairs throughout February. All events take place in the Market’s Arcade at 400 West Lexington Street, Baltimore, MD 21201. Starting this month, Lexington Market’s Live Music Concert Series will host some of Baltimore’s most established as well as up and coming musicians, representing music styles from Blues and Jazz to the top Motown Beats. This month’s line-up includes: Lexington Market’s Live Music Concert Series, Saturdays, 12 noon to 2 p.m. • Saturday, February 4 – Japheth Clark  • Saturday, February 11– Kevin Robinson and KERQ • Saturday, February 18 – The Palovations • Saturday, February 25 – Black Magic Blues Mission   For the first time, the Market will host a children’s hour featuring a children’s book author or hands-on craft activity every Saturday. February activities include: Kids Hour, Saturdays, 10 am to 11 a.m. • Saturday, February 4 – Local Children’s Author Mark C. Booker and daughters Renarda and Cypress Booker reading Why Our Teacher Wears Yellow • Saturday, February 11 – Kid Crafts Activities • Saturday, February 18 – Local Children’s Author Meshia Sutton reading Grace Goes to Ghana • Saturday, February 25 – Kid Crafts Activities   All month long, excluding Sundays, the Market will host African American authors and artisans whose works will be on display. Handcrafted jewelry, sculptures, painting, photography, books and vintage memorabilia are some of the items available for purchase from vendors during the Fairs. African American Authors Fair, Wednesday, February 1– Saturday, February 11, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., African American Artisans Fair, Monday, February 13 – Saturday, February 25, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. More information is available at or by visiting the Market on Facebook.
