Overview

In anticipation of Father's Day, celebrate black fathers with live drumming and readings by black dads from the book of poetry In Daddy’s Arms I Am Tall. This intergenerational collection of poems features new and established African American writers. Readers will include WEAA’s Farajii Muhammad, and motivational speaker Dr. Lamarr Darnell Shields. Children will create a collage art project involving a father figure with artist Adisa Harkins. Participants are encouraged to bring a photo to use in their project. In conjunction with the current exhibit Sons: Seeing the Modern African American Male.
