Overview

Join Mixolo, the solo-friendly social network, for brunch-lite with a side of modern history from America's Motor city as we witness Skeleton Crew, the third play in playwright Dominique Morisseau’s acclaimed Detroit trilogy, at Maryland's official state theater, Baltimore Center Stage. Come with or without a plus-one. All of our events are solo-friendly. Set in the late 2000s, the play portrays four members of a skeleton crew, the bare minimum number of staff needed to function at the last exporting auto plant in Detroit after the well-known, destabilizing exodus of Detroit's decades-long sustaining car manufacturing facilities and, subsequently, many of its people. The remaining crew keeps the vital operations of the plant running in the face of the inevitable while they deftly, and often, painfully, navigate the uncertainty around loyalties and security they once relied upon. Their jobs, relationships, and futures are tenuous at best. Ms. Morriseau's critically acclaimed plays and their themes have been compared to playwright Arthur Miller's exploration of abuses of power and the "American dream" and its effect on the human conscience in pursuit of that dream. Perhaps an ode to Darwin as well? Come and see for yourself. This thoughtful play is sure to stimulate your mirror neurons (empathy) and invite commentary on its assumptions about certain social constructs. You'll want to stay for Center Stage's Afterthoughts for a post-show talkback/discussion with their dramaturg, actors, and Artistic department. FAQ: What's included in my ticket price? You'll gain admission to the 2:00 PM Sunday matinee performance and enjoy seats set aside for Mixolo members. Pre-performance, starting at 1:00 PM, we'll have a meet and greet with light brunch snacks in the recently re-imagined bar and cafe in Maryland's designated "state theater" and Baltimore's largest professional producing theater. Your ticket will include a hearty snack item from the cafe menu and a ticket for one cocktail or non-alcoholic drink from the bar. The bar will be open for additional self-pay purchases. The post-performance talkback is available to all Center Stage guests. Is this event restricted to Mixolo early adopter members and interested event hosts?
