As the hospitality community we have a unique opportunity to come together to support the Mayor's One Baltimore initiative by identifying ways in which we can create employment opportunities and mentorship in the field of tourism. One such way is through participation in the Hire One Youth program. Based on signups to-date, Hire One Youth can only match 300 of its 500 eager and ready to work young people with paid, hands-on employment this summer. Our City's young people are the employees – and employers – of the future. Help us build our workforce and serve One Baltimore by supporting Hire One Youth today. We are challenging the hospitality industry to fill this gap by committing 100 jobs by June 1!
Here's how you can help:
- Hire One (or even better, two) Youth at your business and provide real work experience this summer. Register online at www.baltimorecity.gov/HireOneYouth. You can also call 410-396-JOBS (5627) or email [email protected].
- Or, if you can't provide a hands-on job, sponsor a youth job elsewhere with a donation of $1,500. Businesses can sponsor job slots so that youth may be placed at another employer. Send a check to the Baltimore City Foundation/Youth Works, or, donate online at baltimorecityfoundation.org/Donate.html by selecting MOED – YouthWorks.
