Aberdeen

About 30 miles northeast of Baltimore, visible from I-95 is Ripken Stadium, home of the Aberdeen IronBirds, one of the Baltimore Orioles’ affiliated minor league teams. Ripken Stadium provides an intimate setting for baseball lovers to scout the next Cal Ripken, Jr. and there are often special promotions and theme nights going on such as Star Wars night, Christmas in July and post-game fireworks shows.

Towson

Just north of Baltimore is Towson, a suburban shopping and entertainment destination, home to multiple shopping centers, restaurants, universities, schools and much more. Towson is also home to Hampton Mansion, once the largest private home in America, and now is the grandest example of late-Georgian architecture in America. The National Park Service offers free admission and guided tours. Nearby is Loch Raven Reservoir, an oasis of hiking and biking trails, waterfalls and fishing areas.

Halethorpe

Halethorpe is home to the only Guinness brewery in North America, the Guinness Open Gate Brewery & Barrel House. The site is home to an experimental brewery, taproom and restaurant and is open for tours and tastings seven days a week. Just down the street is another iconic Maryland brewery, Heavy Seas. Heavy Seas started out as Clipper City Brewing Company in 1995 and is known for favorites such as Loose Cannon, Powder Monkey and Peg Leg. Stop by for tours and tastings and year-round special events.
