Pimlico

Horse Racing Haven

Horses are big in Baltimore, and the annual Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course shows off the region’s racing tradition on a national stage. The pivotal second jewel in horse racing’s Triple Crown series is held in this northern Baltimore neighborhood each May, attracting a who’s who crowd decked out in their finest hats and seersucker suits to Pimlico Race Course. In addition to the races and exclusive tent parties, Pimlico hosts InfieldFest, which is always a festive atmosphere and includes performances by national acts and major artists.

Jewish-Led Health Care

The Pimlico area traditionally attracted a large Jewish population, which still is active today. Baltimore has several impressive health care systems and hospitals, including this neighborhood’s Sinai Hospital, which is a Jewish-sponsored health care organization that provides care to all people. The hospital, founded in 1866 as the Hebrew Hospital and Asylum, recently completed a $100 million expansion, including centers for breast care treatment, women’s wellness, and wound care.
