Located directly northeast of downtown Towson’s shopping and dining offerings lies Timonium. Outlined by the Loch Raven Reservoir, Timonium features over 60 miles of picturesque hiking trails that wind their way along the banks of the reservoir, with resplendent plants, wildlife and water vistas. Here, visitors can get up close and personal with nature through activities such as biking, fishing and bird watching.

Towson University and Goucher College are both located in Towson, with Loyola university located just outside of town. This university trifecta infuses Towson with a cool college town feel. The 12th-largest public university system in America, Towson University offers a welcoming environment for learning with and exciting athletic culture. Maryland State Fair & Timonium Fairgrounds

If the nearly half a million visitors each year is any indication, the Maryland state fair is a can’t-miss annual summer event. It has become a favorite in Maryland tagged as “The 12 Best Days of Summer”. Family-friendly events happen all throughout the day, from the time the fair opens at 9 a.m. to the evening concerts and brewery tastings. With exhibits like honey harvesting, cow milking, piglet races, slime making and gardening, there’s a chance of educational fun for all ages and interests. If the livestock showing is not enough, check out the antics at Goat Mountain, where the animals roam free in a natural habitat and are infamous for putting a smile on children’s faces with their excitement and zeal.For a more low-key experience, check out a demonstration by Gothrup Glass, the a glass studio that brings their demonstrations and educational spin to the fair yearly with spinning everything from cowboy hats to vases out of glass.
