Music

From 19th century African American gospel, to early jazz and ragtime, to modern punk rock and classical symphonies, Baltimore’s musical appeal spans a rainbow of tastes and history.

Nowadays, music lovers hang out in cool live-music venues in Federal Hill and Fell’s Point, or attend concerts at one of several major concert halls throughout the city. Music students attend the Peabody Institute’s Conservatory of Music at Johns Hopkins University. Music history aficionados can check out Billie Holiday’s statue on Pennsylvania Ave., or Frank Zappa’s bust outside the Enoch Pratt Free Library.
