Seasonal Part-Time Visitor Center Sales & Information Specialist

Position Summary:
Visit Baltimore is seeking a seasonal part time employee to provide exceptional customer service to visitors during the spring/summer from approximately mid March to mid September 2012. The incumbent will market and sell the services of Visit Baltimore members and the City of Baltimore as a tourist destination and will also provide detailed information; sell tickets to member attractions and museums, make hotel and restaurant reservations, and other duties as assigned. This position will use a variety of skills in a potentially fast-paced environment including but not limited to sales, customer service, personal interaction, moderate to heavy computer use, telephone skills, ability to ask appropriate questions to determine visitor preferences, surveying and proper listening techniques.
Basic Qualifications:
- Candidate should have 1-3 years customer service experience
- Must be reliable and on time and available to work weekends and holidays as required
- Must be organized and able to manage multiple responsibilities
- Must be willing to learn and assist with new projects
- Must have basic understanding of computers
- Must be able to occasionally lift 25 lbs.

Volunteer Opportunities at the Baltimore Visitor Center
Visit Baltimore is seeking volunteers for the Baltimore Visitor Center located at the beautiful Inner Harbor! Volunteers promote Visit Baltimore members and the city of Baltimore to leisure travelers, conventioneers and groups, as well as area residents. Volunteers are the front-line ambassadors, and are often the first person that a visitor meets when coming to Baltimore. Volunteers promote the sale of tickets to area attractions, and work with paid staff to complete the sale. Volunteers use printed and computer and internet information in their role at the Visitor Center.

Program Requirements:
- This position is open to all individuals who wish to assist in promoting Baltimore as a tourist destination. Volunteers who speak foreign languages would also be helpful.
- Volunteers are asked to commit to work at least 1 four-hour shift per week in the Visitor’s Center during peak season from April through September, or work at least 100 hours during the calendar year. Shifts typically begin at 8:45am, 10:45am and 1:45pm.
- Our greatest need is on weekends!!
