Kathryn Savage And Moheb Soliman (In Conversation With Katie Moulton)

How does language make a pathway from living being to living being, and towards a livable collective future? Kathryn Savage and Moheb Soliman both grapple with the stakes of intertwining writing, the environment, and humans’ place in it. Both with books from Coffee House Press, the two writers will offer an expansive conversation alongside Katie Moulton.

Kathryn Savage is the author of Groundglass. Her writing has appeared in American Short Fiction, BOMB, Ecotone Magazine, Guernica, the Virginia Quarterly Review, and the anthology Rewilding: Poems for the Environment. Recipient of the Academy of American Poets James Wright Prize, she has received support from fellowships and residencies including the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, Jerome Foundation, Minnesota State Arts Board, Ucross Foundation and Tulsa Artist Fellowship. She lives with her family in Minneapolis and teaches creative writing at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.

Moheb Soliman is an interdisciplinary poet from Egypt and the Midwest. His first book of poetry, HOMES, was published by Coffee House Press in 2021. HOMES dwells in the natural-cultural sprawl of the Great Lakes region, reckoning with issues of modernity, identity, place and belonging. He’s presented writing, performance, installation and video work at diverse art and public spaces with support from the Banff Centre, Pillsbury House, Joyce Foundation, Minnesota State Arts Board and the Tulsa Artist Fellowship, among others. He lives in Minnesota.

Katie Moulton is the author of Dead Dad Club: On Grief & Tom Petty. Her writing has appeared in New England Review, Salon, The Believer, Oxford American, Electric Literature, and elsewhere. A MacDowell fellow, her work has been supported by fellowships from Bread Loaf, Art Omi, Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, the Tulsa Artist Fellowship, and other organizations. She lives in Baltimore and teaches creative writing at Johns Hopkins University and the Newport MFA.
