Mike LeDonne w/ Vincent Herring & Eric Alexander

This All Star Quintet has earned renown as a one of the most exciting organ combos on the scene. Equally formidable on the piano and the Hammond B3 organ, Mike LeDonne made his reputation in the 1990s as an ace accompanist touring and recording with jazz legends such as Milt Jackson, Sonny Rollins, Bobby Hutcherson and Benny Golson. He started establishing himself on the B3 around the turn of the century, announcing his arrival as a major new voice with 2004’s Smokin’ Out Loud (Savant), a session featuring the band performing at the JHL.

Each player brings a wealth of experience to this state-of-the-art ensemble. Vincent Herring has appeared on stage and or recordings with Freddie Hubbard, Dizzy Gillespie, Louis Hayes, Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers, Horace Silver Quintet, and more. Vincent’s intense, soulful, multi-noted style and ebullient swing often make an incendiary sound over fine and controlled rhythms of modern times. A protégé of Charles Earland, tenor saxophonist Eric Alexander made his recording debut with the B3 maestro in 1991, and went on to perform and record with Melvin Rhyne and Jimmy McGriff. Peter Bernstein has also recorded with Rhyne, Dr. Lonnie Smith and Larry Goldings, a B3 innovator and bandmate in a celebrated, long-running collective trio with Bill Stewart. McClenty Hunter is a Grammy-nominated drummer who was acknowledged as a rising star by Downbeat Magazine in 2019, and has worked with jazz icons such as Lou Donaldson, Cedar Walton, Jimmy Heath, Kenny Garrett, Buster Williams and Curtis Fuller, among others.
