Emilio Solla/Antonio Lizana Quartet

Emilio Solla [piano]
Antonio Lizana [vocals/saxophone]
Pablo Menares [bass]
Ferenc Nemeth [drums/percussion]

Grammy Award-winning composer, arranger and pianist Emilio Solla presents El Siempre Mar, his latest collaboration with Flamenco vocalist and saxophonist Antonio Lizana! Breathing new life into the nomadic encounters of cantes de ida y vuelta, flamenco songs which traveled to Latin America and returned to Spain with an interplay of new musical forms and traditions. Solla and Lizana interchange their individual heritages of Tango and Flamenco through their love for American Jazz, celebrating three musical languages in El Siempre Mar.

Emilio Solla has been lauded for his artistry in summoning global styles and rhythms. His aesthetic eloquence can be experienced in his Latin Grammy winning album, Puertos: Music from International Waters. He has performed alongside jazz and latin legends such as Paquito D’Rivera, Billy Hart, Arturo O’Farrill, Edmar Castañeda and Silk Road Ensemble member Cristina Pato, the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the WDR big band.

Antonio Lizana is considered both by audiences and critics worldwide as a distinctive figure in the contemporary flamenco-jazz field. In addition to his extraordinary skills as a composer, lyricist, and singer, Lizana is a world-class jazz saxophonist. The uniqueness of his style has brought him international recognition.
