2024 Henrietta Lacks Memorial Lecture

Join us in honoring the legacy of Mrs. Henrietta Lacks at the 14th Anniversary of the Henrietta Lacks Memorial Lecture. This year, we invite guests to join us either in person or virtually.
We are pleased to have Dr. Eliseo Pérez-Stable, Director of the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as our keynote speaker. We are also excited to have Dr. Nadine Barrett Professor, Department of Social Sciences and Public Health, Senior Associate Dean, Associate Director, Atrium Health/Wake Forest Comprehensive Cancer Center as a speaker.
We are also honored to have multimedia visual artist, composer and musician Paul Rucker perform.
The Urban Health Institute will award the 2024 Henrietta Lacks Memorial Award to a collaboration between the New Song Community Learning Center, Inc., a Sandtown-Winchester nonprofit that offers after-school programs, community outreach, and extracurricular activities for K-8 students at New Song Academy, and JHU SOURCE for their youth mental health project “Voices in My Head.” This project is an interactive mental health manual for youth created by youth.
The awardee of the Henrietta Lacks Dunbar Health Sciences Scholarship will be announced.
