Afro Dance Workshop: Stepping into Your Power

This workshop will focus on writing poetry using the body as a pen. We will be grooving to West African traditional dance steps coupled with Afrobeat movement to bring this poem to life. Come in comfortable clothing and get ready to step into your power. Everyone is welcome!

This year we will be launching a new poetry slam festival as a new core element of Black Pride 2021.

Stonewall International Poetry Slam (SIPS)

SIPS is an international poetry festival for non-cishet artists that centers Black people.. We are preparing to kick off the inaugural festival in Baltimore, Maryland. The festival will take place from October 19th-24th, 2021 and will feature over 20 events as a part of the larger Baltimore Black Pride celebration.

The Black Arts District is excited to be co-organizers of Baltimore Black Pride 2021. As America attempts to recover from the aftermath of a global pandemic, we recognize that members of the Black LGTBQ+ community face compiling social challenges that are exacerbated by the forced isolation and economic hardships that were brought on by the pandemic. As a result, the Black Arts District is dedicated to collaborating with dozens of local and national partners to create safe, celebratory spaces for the purpose of promoting: health, joy, empowerment and equity. We believe Black Pride is needed now more than ever before. With your support we will be able to impact thousands of lgbtq+ people locally and nationally.
