Ani Mari and North Ingalls
Join two Michigan-based artists, North Ingalls and Ani Mari, for a night of indie folk and indie pop-rock original songwriting! This is Ani Mari’s second time playing at The Loft, and she’s so excited to return to Monkton with her friends from Ann Arbor.
North Ingalls is a four-piece indie folk-rock band. The members of North Ingalls enjoy blending various genres to fuel their unique sound. With folk at the forefront, it is mixed in with jazz, R&B, and rock to create the music you hear from them today. The theme of love is at the heart of their music, with tunes that touch upon the ups and downs of relationships, friendships, and kinships. The band has gained a devoted following for its deeply honest and detailed narrative lyrics that explore the raw feelings and experiences that arise between two connected hearts. Brought to life by emotionally raw vocals and a rich, full-bodied sound, North Ingalls’ original music strikes a compelling chord with every generation.
Ani Mari is an alt-Americana singer-songwriter from the Northwoods of Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula, whose songs weave complex chord progressions into heart-wrenching stories and melodies, spanning from roots folk to indie rock. Whether solo, with folk duo Ani & Kora, or with her backing band, Ani has toured nationally and across her home state for over a decade. Her debut album, girlfriend (2023), fights for grace and connection amidst the anxieties, desires, heartbreaks and oftentimes wearying joie de vivre of being young in America’s heartland. Her sophomore album, The Masquerade, drops on all streaming platforms this August.
