Baltimore Symphony Orchestra - Copland & a New American Symphony

American orchestral music takes the spotlight as the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra performs under conductor Jonathon Heyward, with principal clarinetist YaoGuang Zhai as soloist. The program pairs Aaron Copland’s jazz-inflected Clarinet Concerto with two distinctive symphonic works: the world premiere of Jonathan Leshnoff’s Symphony No. 6, commissioned by the BSO, and Philip Glass’s Symphony No. 15, “Lincoln.” Leshnoff’s new work incorporates visuals woven into the music, adding another dimension to its premiere. The concert offers a vivid opportunity to hear familiar American voices alongside a newly created work.
