Baltimore Symphony Orchestra - Heyward Conducts Schumann and Brahms

Music Director Jonathon Heyward leads the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in a program of Romantic-era works and a 20th-century American piece. Violinist Isabelle Faust joins the orchestra for Robert Schumann’s Violin Concerto, a work from the composer’s final years; the program also features William Grant Still’s Mother and Child and Johannes Brahms’s Symphony No. 2. Schumann’s connection to Brahms lends the program a thread of artistic friendship and legacy, while Still’s work adds a distinct voice to the mix. It’s a chance to hear contrasting orchestral colors and familiar symphonic scale in one evening.
