Baltimore Symphony Orchestra - Thibaudet & the New World Symphony

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra welcomes conductor Tianyi Lu and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet for a program that moves from Salina Fisher’s “Tupaia” to the sweeping melodies of Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, “From the New World.” At its center is Khachaturian’s Piano Concerto, a vivid, flamboyant showcase for Thibaudet’s virtuosity. Dvořák’s beloved symphony flows with melodies colored by echoes of American folk song and spirituals, creating a rich orchestral counterpoint to the concerto’s brilliance. Classical music fans can look forward to an evening of bold piano writing and memorable symphonic sound.
