This month’s featured artist is Nadiia Poliakova Bravo:
I am a Ukrainian-born artist based in the United States, where I have lived for the past 15 years. I work primarily with soft pastels, alongside charcoal, pencil and watercolor. I loved drawing and painting as a child, but like many, life’s busyness and unpredictability slowly pulled me away from art.

During the COVID pandemic, my creative practice was rekindled, and with it came an important realization: we don’t wait for passion to arrive—action comes first, and passion follows. Since then, art has become an essential part of my life.

I paint scenes from my everyday world—my surroundings, moments from life, portraits, and nature. Through color, value, shape, and the play of light and shadow, my work is a way of seeing more deeply. Painting helps me process uncertainty, cope with pain and find meaning, and it is this experience of the world that I hope to share with fellow art lovers.
