Diaper Giveaway

Those who are “diaper privileged” are able to buy diapers without having a significant impact on their household’s bottom line. “Diaper sticker shock” has become a national issue since 2021, but has plagued many under-resourced communities for much longer, SB6 neighborhoods included. According to NielsenIQ, disposable diaper prices have risen 8.7% in the last year alone. Not being able to afford diapers has a much larger impact than the cleanliness of your child. Without diapers, kids are unable to attend daycare, which means someone in the household is forced to stay home and miss work, causing additional stress and potential income loss.

On Thursday, June 30 from 4-6 p.m., the South Baltimore 7 (SB7) Coalition will host a diaper giveaway where families can receive diapers free of charge. Held at South Point (101. W. Cromwell Street), the Port Covington development team is paying it forward by removing this financial burden in order to help Baltimore families in need.
