Election Week Unity Dance Party

Union Square Association presents a Unity Dance
Friday, November 8 6 p.m.–Midnight
Checkerspot Brewery – 1421 Ridgely Street, Baltimore
DJs galore and a host of Baltimore’s top dancers keep guests on their feet.
A multi-genre, multi-generational dance odyssey.

The Unity Dance team asks that our guests set aside doubt and follow us down. The turn-up starts when you enter. Plenty of Baltimore’s top dancers on-hand to guide you or do your thing on the dance floor.
First course of the evening. A fortifying, high-energy dose of Bmore club music, soul line dancing, hip-hop, salsa, step and swing. Expect star-level dance igniters, so grab autographs as you wrap up election week with us. Look out for the tango playing accordion, drum line steppers, and capoeira on your way in.

The second rhythm wave of the evening is tropical. Dedicated to infinitely danceable soca, afrobeats, bachata, bollywood free style, reggaeton and dancehall. There are dance facilitators if you want tips, and a ready dance floor if you don’t.

The third cluster is Electronic Dance Music (EDM) including house and trance, nu-disco, and radical takes on vouge, DNB, trap and R&B.
Our DJ team is busy right now, queuing up your favorites — and brand-new selections. The growing list of dance facilitators includes: Bmore Than Dance crews, TSU Terry, Baltimore Salsa Dance, Spirit Feet, Illestrate, Baltimore Knockers and sorority steppers, Charlie of Mobtown Ballroom, Que Dogs and EDM all-nighters. The list grows daily.

“Dance is the best evidence of music’s power.” According to Nate Daley, music producer, ” music and dance forge unity. Jonathan Schwartz, filmmaker, believes that “even an awkward moment on the dance floor when you chance a new step means active engagement with neighbors.” Beyond a spectator, you’re a vibrant participant. “We use fitness as a conduit to greatness,” says Anthony Huggins, of Southwest Sports & Fitness Alliance. “Dance is a glimpse into your creative spirit and lifts everyone up.” David McGill of Union Square encourages everyone to risk it “Dance to that you know, take a chance on what you don’t, follow us down.

The event hosts, The Union Square Association, manifests a welcoming spirit; the preservation of historic architecture and landscapes; and a year-round schedule packed with cultural, musical and family-focused events! Come visit, come to stay.
