Feast of St. Anthony Italian Festival
There’s something special about summer in Little Italy—and the St. Anthony Festival at St. Leo the Great Church is at the heart of it all. For over 120 years, this tradition has brought people together to celebrate faith, family, and the simple joy of being part of a community. Whether it is your first time or a yearly tradition, it’s the kind of event that just feels like home.
Festivalgoers can enjoy a full lineup of events, including live music and entertainment every night, authentic Italian food stands featuring homemade favorites, games and activities for all ages, and a variety of local vendors. From classic Italian specialties to sweet treats and refreshing drinks, there’s something for everyone to enjoy as you stroll the vibrant streets.
What makes the festival truly meaningful, though, is the story behind it. Back in 1904, as the Great Baltimore Fire approached Little Italy, residents carried a statue of St. Anthony to the edge of the neighborhood and prayed for protection. When the fire stopped short, sparing their homes and church, they made a promise to honor St. Anthony each year. That promise lives on today—not just as a festival, but as a reminder of faith, gratitude, and the strength of a community that continues to come together year after year.
