Fresh Herbs in the Kitchen: an edible evening featuring the Village Learning Place Culinary Herb Garden
Join us for a hands-on experience of the various herbs in the Village Learning Place culinary herb garden. Learn about our culinary herbs, their uses, as well as tips for creating edible landscapes in your own gardens or containers. The evening includes demonstrations using our region’s seasonal fresh herbs, with samples and recipes to take home.
In addition to their shared passion for gardens and scratch-made cuisine, Lyn Pence and Beth Tohn are a mother-daughter duo. Growing up, Beth benefited from Lyn’s intuitive skills, curiosity, and knowledge in the kitchen and with plants, then took those lessons into the professional kitchen. Living all over as a military family fostered deep connections to global and regional cuisines. Beth gets her fingernails dirty everywhere she has lived and is thrilled to call Charles Village home; the Village Learning Place garden is an extension of home where Beth can share her passion with the community!
Lyn brings decades of experience presenting to groups about decorating with plants and the many uses for herbs. She is a member of the Herb Society of America, for whom she provided demonstrations in Colonial Williamsburg.
2nd Wednesdays is a monthly cultural series of talks, presentations, and concerts at the Village Learning Place
