Fundamentals of Improv Level 2: Multi-week Class!

About this class:

Over six weeks, you will develop the core skills needed to host and perform a professional showcase of improv comedy. Highwire Improv’s expert instructors will be with you every step of the way, holding the space to make silly choices, explore comedy, and learn how to create art together. By the end of the class, you will be an ensemble ready to host and put on a full student showcase!

Each class session will run from 7-9 p.m. ET, with optional time available after class to discuss and debrief.

Week 1 (July 11): Review, Scenes, and Editing
Week 2 (July 18): A to C Thinking
Week 3 (July 25): Game of the Scene
Week 4 (August 1): Scenework
Week 5 (August 8): Openings, Initiations, Group Scenes
Week 6 (August 15): Putting a Show Together
Week 7 (August 22): Student Showcase!

About your instructors:

Tashika Campbell (she/her) began improvising in Baltimore, Maryland in 2017. Originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, Tashika is a founding member of the award-winning independent troupe Cake Walk, and also performs with Dreamweaver. Tashika has headlined festivals across the US and coordinated the first improv festival dedicated to Black improvisers in the DMV. Tashika is also a sought-after coach, teacher and workshop facilitator.

Jonathan Monroe (he/him) has been a teacher in the Maryland school systems for over 10 years. He has been an improviser in the Baltimore area for 8 years. Learning the craft from the Baltimore Improv Group, he has been a part of indie troupes; Throwing Lobsters, Hostel, and Important Screws. Jonathan has been directing a monthly school aged driven family friendly show, The Playground, once a month at Highwire Improv. He enjoys long form and musical improv as well as mentoring the next generation of improvisers.
