Jazz /Pop Vocalist Janet Paulsen Tribute Show to John Waters Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Jazz and Pop Vocalist Janet Paulsen and her quartet featuring Anthony Pocetti on organ, Jonathan Epley on guitar and Todd Harrison on drums will feature songs and anecdotes in tribute to John Waters. The show will include songs from his films along with his personal favorites and other jazz standards. Tease up your highest beehive and put on the jeweled cat eyeglasses, heavy lipstick, faux animal prints, fabulous dresses, and boas, and join the celebration of John Waters receiving his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame the next day. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes.

John Waters was born and raised in Baltimore and still resides here. His films are all set and shot in Baltimore. He is best known for directing boundary-pushing independent comedies like “Pink Flamingos” (1972) and the original “Hairspray” (1988) among other films. Most of Waters’ projects included his longtime friend Glenn Milstead, better known for his drag name Divine.

Janet Paulsen is a singer in demand who lives in Baltimore. She appears in venues throughout the East Coast, including the premiere jazz club Keystone Korner. Janet performs regularly with a 1920s Orchestra and other big band ensembles. In the words of the great jazz singer Jane Monheit, “Janet brings passionate enthusiasm to the Songbook and gives her whole heart to every lyric.”
