Lafayette's Farewell Tour Bicentennial - Baltimore

The American Friends of Lafayette have planned an unforgettable living history experience in Baltimore: SEVEN events in SIX venues over FIVE dates from October 5-9, 2024. Four events are free, three events require tickets.

These heritage events will commemorate the Bicentennial of the Lafayette Farewell Tour of America’s visit to Baltimore in 1824-1825 by recreating the red-carpet reception Baltimore gave this French citizen who fought on America’s side in our Revolutionary War. See “Lafayette” himself and his entourage of reenactors at the very venues Lafayette visited 200 years ago. Meet French and American dignitaries who will honor Lafayette’s impact on our country and on Baltimore. Join us to be part of 21st-century Baltimore history-making!

These events will celebrate, commemorate and educate for all attendees the important contributions Lafayette made to America’s early experiment in democracy. You will be able to partake in Lafayette’s boat arrival at Fort McHenry, period music, parades, historic footstep tours, a speaker luncheon, a wreath-laying ceremony and a farewell soirée complete with musical theater, all lifting up Lafayette’s legacy. And, you will have a chance to snap a photo of you with Major General Lafayette!
