Lorelei Ensemble: Frost and Fire

Home Events Lorelei Ensemble: Frost and Fire

Join GRAMMY-nominated Lorelei Ensemble for Frost and Fire, a new holiday program celebrating the power of women’s voices.

Frost and Fire draws on themes of solstice and advent – seasons of stillness and waiting. The program features Scott Ordway’s North Woods, written for Lorelei, and Eliza Bagg’s Whiteout, the winner of our recent call for scores for women, trans, and nonbinary composers. Winding through early chant and hymnody, contemporary works by Amy Beth Kirsten, Jessica Meyer, and Björk, and bespoke arrangements of familiar tunes by Greg Brown, Jocelyn Hagen, and Laura Jobin-Acosta, we journey from peak darkness to first light.

About Lorelei Ensemble

Led by founder and artistic director Beth Willer, Lorelei has established an inspiring mission, curating culturally-relevant and artistically audacious programs that stretch and challenge the expectations of artists and audiences alike.
