Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend: A Celebration of Freedom

In celebration of the Museum’s designation as a National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom Site, and in honor of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the B&O is hosting special programming exploring the concept of freedom on Sun, Jan. 16, and MLK Day, Mon, Jan 17.

Programs include our From Slavery to Civil Rights tour, kid-focused educational activities, a presentation by Reverend Montgomery of Baltimore’s historic Union Baptist Church and soloist recital from the church’s choir.

Schedule of Events:

Sunday, January 16
11:30 AM: Train Ride
12-4 PM: Kids Activity in Roundhouse
1 PM: Train Ride
2-4 PM: For this celebration of MLK Jr. Day, Reverend Montgomery of Union Baptist Church will join the museum for a presentation, Motivation to March On, followed by a soloist recital from the church’s choir. This will be followed by an African American History public tour, From Slavery to Civil Rights, through the museum.

Monday, January 17
10 AM – 12 Noon: Kids Activity in Roundhouse
12 Noon: Train Ride
1 – 1:30 PM: From Slavery to Civil Rights Junior Tour
2:30 – 3 PM: From Slavery to Civil Rights Public Tour
